Aer credit card – from checkout to check-in
3 MIN READ
Ross loves the outdoors. Once he used to be a big surfer, white water kayaker and mountain biker.
‘But, with a family of four kids and a busy job, I have to confine my sport to certain times of the day to fit everything in so ultra running works for me,’ he says.
Always on the move
When he’s not running long distances he’s often traveling them by car and plane for work.
On any given day, he might be driving down to Cork or flying to Munich for a trade fair from his home office in Greystones village.
His passion for the outdoors extends to his company Brand Activations Ireland which sees him travel more in the first quarter of the year and from July to September
‘I’ve just come back from Austria, for example, from a launch of a new range of outdoor wear,’ he says.
Using his Aer Credit Card for everyday spending
With all this travel, he was intrigued when he saw the ads for Aer Credit Card.
He decided to apply for the card and to use it to organise all his spending.
‘I got an email back in a couple of days and the card within 10 days – all very straightforward,’ he says.
He has been using it ever since for the family’s everyday spending on groceries, petrol and even for subscriptions like Netflix.
With a family of four teenagers to feed, ranging from 10 to 19 years old, he says he might spend up to €800 a month on food and groceries.
It all adds up.
And it all goes on the Aer Credit Card.
But he says he keeps a close eye on his spending so that he can always clear the balance at the end of the month.
‘I never carry a balance forward to the next month,’ Ross says.
‘It’s nice to be rewarded for using the card’
With Aer Credit Card, you get 2 return flights to Europe1 each year – you pay the taxes, fees and charges.
The flights are available once you spend €5,0001 or more (except for excluded transactions).
The card also comes with worldwide multi-trip travel insurance2, 2 fast track and priority boarding passes3, and 2 airport lounge passes4.
When it came to the 2 return flights to Europe, he decided to reward himself and his wife and booked a break abroad just for the two of them.
‘I was quite surprised how straightforward it was’
Ross and Wendy flew from Dublin to Naples.
They used their 2 fast track and priority boarding passes3 to make the trip more enjoyable.
Then took a ferry to the island of Ischia.
Ross is keeping the 2 airport lounge passes4, he says, for business travel.
The process of redeeming the two return flights1 was simple.
‘I completed the form on the site and I was contacted the next day to confirm all the details,’ Ross says.
‘We had to pay taxes, fees and charges but that was all.
I was quite surprised how straightforward it was.’
Greystones Community First Responders
Ross received a small gratuity for his time and is donating it to Greystones Community First Responders* whom he joined 10 years ago.
He is one of the 24 volunteers in Greystones, trained in CPR, on call 4 nights a week.
